The Parkburn kennel was first established in Scotland in 1966 and relocated to British Columbia, Canada in 1973.  This move re-introduced the Flatcoated Retriever to Canada and the Canadian dog show scene after a gap of over 40 years.

Our aim has always been to breed Flatcoats who are, first and foremost, loving companions, but who can also do well in the hunting field, show ring, obedience and agility trials etc.

We are very proud of all the Parkburn dogs, but especially proud of SAR Parkburn Noir Raven who is a certified Search and Rescue dog in British Columbia, Parkburn Lachlan who was the first Canadian bred Flatcoat to hold a Show Championship, and Obedience Trial Championship and a WCX in the field.  Also his brother Multi Best In Show Can Am Ch Parkburn Lord Jet, CD, WC who was one of the top 10 Sporting Dogs in Canada at the age of 9 years.  Also Eng Sh Ch Can Am Ch Parkburn Brandy Boy and his son Eng Ch Can Am Ch Parkburn Deextenzing of Casuarina who are still the only Flatcoats ever to hold the three championship titles in England, Canada and America.

Parkburn has won the CKC and Pedigree Top Breeders Award in 1991, 1994 and 1999.

MOIRA JEWELL

Moira Jewell passed away April 10, 2007 after a lengthy battle with cancer.  Moira had one dog at the time of her passing - Int. Cdn/Am. Ch. Parkburn Pacific Pride.... Pride attended the Celebration of Moira's life with many of her friends.  As they played Amazing Grace, Pride leaped up, stood stock still, and gave one howl, his goodbye I'm sure.

Pride now lives with Moira's best friend, Kathy Kondrat of Blacklace Flat-Coated Retrievers.  Kathy started in Flatties in 1989 with her first flattie pup - Parkburn Lackie...and has kept to this particular breeding line...having two National Specialty Winners and many Champions, but most importantly, many happy pets with loving owners.

If you are interested in dogs with the Parkburn heritage, please contact Kathy Kondrat in St. Ives, BC.
